We are excited to welcome John Guevarra to the Investing in Place team as our Communications and Research Associate. John is the second full time staffer on Investing in Place and will be leading our efforts around social equity in transportation research, policy analysis at Metro, coordinating our email updates and much much more. This doubles our staff capacity – so as you can imagine we are very excited!
You can reach him at firstname.lastname@example.org – tho he doesn’t start until next week on Monday the 22nd. We are thrilled to have him join our team and excited for our partners to meet him. If you see John at upcoming meeting – we hope you’ll say hi.
John’s Bio: John Guevarra is a life-long Angeleno and an urban sustainability advocate. As a community organizer by practice, an urban planner by training, and a fundraiser by necessity, John’s specialty is to activate and empower communities to advocate for safe and thriving neighborhoods. John recently served as Interim Executive Director for People for Parks, helping to open schools in under-resourced areas over the weekend for free and open play. Previously, John helped to manage advocacy and political campaigns as a fundraising deputy for a Congressional campaign, a campaign coordinator for a LA City Council race, and a policy analyst with the Los Angeles Alliance for a New Economy (LAANE).
In his free time, John takes pride in developing our next generation – he serves on the board of People for Parks and is in his third season as a coach for the YMCA Junior Clippers.
And thank you to all the impressive candidates who applied to this position and for their interest in the work of Investing in Place. We were so inspired to see such a variety of talented leaders submit their applications.
